Informed Clinical Decision Making: An Introductory Exploration of the Repositioning and Full Body Support Surface Chapters from the Pressure Injury/Ulcer Prevention and Treatment Guidelines 2025

Since 2009, the Prevention and Treatment of Pressure Ulcers/Injuries: Clinical Practice Guideline has been collaboratively developed by the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP), the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP), and the Pan Pacific Pressure Injury Alliance (PPPIA), in partnership with Associate Organisations. The 2025 edition, currently available in its Beta version on the International Guidelines website, presents updated evidence-based recommendations and good practice statements, along with implementation considerations, evidence summaries, and discussion.

Join Sharon Maris, Director of Global Medical Affairs for Pressure Injury Prevention, for an insightful session exploring key learnings to support the translation of this knowledge into everyday clinical practice.

Aim:
To provide an introductory overview of the repositioning and full-body support surface good practice statements, with a focus on interpreting their relevance for clinical decision-making and practical application.

Objectives:

  • Evaluate the recommendations and good practice statements presented in the Beta version of the 2025 International Pressure Injury Prevention and Management Clinical Practice Guideline.
  • Identify critical considerations that can inform clinical decision-making for selecting appropriate support surfaces for individual patients.
  • Explore key insights and discuss how they can be effectively translated into clinical practice.
