Continuing Arjo’s renewable energy transformation: solar installations in Australia paving the way

Arjo’s commitment to renewable energy continues to gain momentum in Australia, where two major solar installations are powering operations and feeding surplus energy back to the grid.

Following the first rooftop solar installation at Arjo’s site outside Melbourne, a significantly larger system has been launched at the recently opened facility north of Sydney. The Sydney installation supports office, warehouse and Arjo’s ReNu reprocessing operations – enabling healthcare providers to reuse medical devices safely with reduced climate footprint. Both sites generate more electricity than they consume, feeding renewable energy to the local grid while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

ReNu powered by the sun

The solar system at the Sydney facility has been operational for a couple of months and is already delivering strong results, both environmentally and financially. By powering the ReNu reprocessing operations with renewable energy, Arjo further strengthens the sustainability credentials of its circular offering.

“The transition to renewable energy, such as solar power, is a key enabler in reaching our climate targets,” says Dennis Gonzalez, Head of Operations at Arjo Australia. “Using solar energy to power our unique, water-based, reprocessing operations further reinforces the environmental value of our ReNu solution.”

Expanding the solar footprint across Australia

Later in 2025, Arjo’s site in South Australia will become the third Australian location to install solar panels. This expansion reflects Arjo’s continued investment to enable the transition to renewable energy across all operations.
