Cancer-Associated Thrombosis: Prevention and Treatment

Earn While You Learn: Continuing Education Certificate and One (1) Contact Hour Available!

Join us for a webinar exploring the reasons behind the increasing incidence of venous thromboembolism in patients with cancer. Thrombosis in cancer patients can complicate treatment decisions and is associated with an increased risk of mortality. Recognition and prevention of thrombosis are essential in all cancer patients, particularly those who are hospitalised. In this webinar, we will discuss methods for risk stratification and review prevention and treatment strategies.

By the end of this session participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the increasing incidence and prevalence of cancer-associated thrombosis.
  • Understand and implement the use of risk assessment tools for cancer-associated thrombosis.
  • Understand the indications and contraindications for mechanical and pharmacological thromboprophylaxis in hospitalised cancer patients.
  • Describe evidence-based treatment strategies for cancer-associated thrombosis.

Attendees will have the opportunity to earn One (1) Contact Hour by participating the entire session and submitting the Evaluation Form at the end of the session. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Provider Number #CEP17028.
