“The feeling of trust and empowerment draws out my potential, even in areas where I didn’t see it myself”

Since joining Arjo seven years ago as Junior HR Admin Specialist, Angelika Hajbos has grown progressively into her current role as Global HR & Sustainability System Specialist. The continuous trust and empowerment she has felt along the way confirms that Arjo is the ideal place for achieving her long-term professional and personal goals.

Throughout her development journey, Angelika has used her diverse skills and experiences in IT, analytics, business insights, applications capabilities and legal to identify opportunities for leveraging technology and systems within HR processes. Her aim has been to enhance and streamline these processes, while making things easier and more efficient for Arjo’s teams.

“It is thanks to the support of those around me that I have reached this point. I have taken advantage of the opportunities presented to me, challenged myself and shouldered the overall responsibility for my growth. Transitioning to new positions means we may also need to change our behaviours, whether that’s adapting communication style, adopting new routines or perhaps knowing when to step back and enable others to act,” she explains.

Just as she feels empowered by her colleagues, Angelika strives to empower the people around her with a we-can-do-it attitude.

“My team is what drives me. The diversity when it comes to how we live, our values and even our daily tasks, means that I learn to understand others every day. Together, we are fostering a culture of perseverance and positivity that spurs us to search for solutions until we find them. After all, people are the most valuable resource in any company, and our team strives to do our best to support employees and managers in HR-related topics,” she says.

With empowering movement at the heart of everything Arjo does, the insights into the importance of movement and how complicated life can be without it, is another important motivator for Angelika.

“Recently, the recovery journey of someone close to me opened my eyes for how mental health issues are connected to physical movement. This experience has taught me that taking care of basics such as sleep hygiene, balanced eating, and engaging in activities is fundamental for my mental balance. It’s a lesson that has significantly impacted my perspective on life,” Angelika says.
